Boston Phoenix Best of Boston 2010      Theatre@First is an all-volunteer community theatre based in Somerville, MA. Founded in 2003, we fill a vital niche in the vibrant Davis Square arts scene. We draw upon the talents and support of individuals and organizations throughout the community to provide opportunities for our participants and audiences to experience quality live theatre in a variety of local venues. Auditions: Stop Kiss

Stop Kiss

The play is set in New York City in the late 1990s. Sara is starting a new life; Callie is stuck in a rut. Their friendship leads them both to explore new possibilities, and ultimately to romance. But when their first date is interrupted by tragedy, Callie must decide whether she is finally ready to make a true commitment.

In You're Killing Me Already! by Andrea Aptecker, best friends Gertie and Sylvia live in a Jewish senior village filled with oddball characters, unexpected romances, and fierce competitions. In a world of joy and heartbreak, how do you find your courage and open your heart before it's too late? Join these butter-hoarding, tango-dancing, pastrami-whispering seniors on a funny and touching journey.

Current Show

The Spanish Tragedy

The Spanish Tragedy was written a few years before Hamlet, and shares some common elements. This funny, gory, tragic play will be performed in various locations throughout Tufts Park in Somerville, with the audience following the actors. The show has been awarded a grant by the Somerville Arts Council.

The mission of Theatre@First is to work together to provide a fun, friendly, and creative theater experience for cast, crew, and audience alike. We welcome volunteers at all levels of experience, without regard to race, color, religion, ethnicity, ancestry, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, national origin, body type, age or disability. We encourage a supportive environment in which to work, play, grow, and explore new areas of the theatre arts. We offer affordable and eclectic performances to the community, aiming to surprise, delight, entertain, and educate our audiences.
