The Baltimore Waltz

The Baltimore Waltz

The Baltimore Waltz is Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel's tragical-farcical love letter to her brother, Carl, who died of AIDS in 1988. It is a breathless, bawdy, and dreamlike tour through a Europe that exists only in the imagination of old Hollywood.

Anna has contracted a dread illness - Acquired Toilet Disease, or ATD - and her brother Carl whisks her through Europe to find an experimental cure. Only after countless sexual adventures and film-noir-style intrigue with the mysterious Third Man do we discover the truth.

Please note: This show will have strobe light effects for part of the performance.

Director: Kamela Dolinova has previously directed In The Jar, The Winter's Tale, and As You Like It for Theatre@First. She trained in theatre at Drew University and has worked with New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, The Bickford Theatre, Two River Theatre Company, Unreliable Narrator, and others. She treasures working with actors to bring out their best performances, and is increasingly interested in movement-based theatre. She doesn't bite unless you ask really nicely.
