Bent
A Play by Martin Sherman
Nominated for both the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award, Bent is a powerfully tragic and deeply revealing examination of the treatment of gay men in 1930's Germany. At that time, a law known as Paragraph 175 made homosexuality a crime for men, a law that Hitler strengthened during his ascent to power. Bent follows the story of Max as he and his boyfriend Rudy attempt to flee the country after the Night of the Long Knives.
