The Complete Works of William Shakespeare [Abridged]

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare [Abridged]

By Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield
Directed by Mike Haddad

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare [Abridged] is a madcap race to perform all of Shakespeare's 37 plays in about 90 minutes. The Reduced Shakespeare Company, an ensemble of eight committed actors, will stop at nothing to achieve this feat... even if it kills them. (And a third of his plays were tragedies, so death is likely.) It's fast-paced fun for Shakespeare nerds.

Audition Dates:

General Auditions: Auditions will consist of cold scene readings. You do not need to prepare a monologue. Each audition slot will conclude with a short movement exercise. Please arrive in comfortable clothing/footwear.

Audition Materials: Play summaries, character descriptions, and audition information (including sides) are provided in advance. If you have trouble downloading these files, please email auditions@theatreatfirst.org and we will send them to you.

Performance dates are May 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 30, and 31, and June 1 (matinee)

Auditions are by appointment only. Please fill in the form below to make an appointment. Be prepared to stay for the full hour of your time slot.

Audition Location: Unity Somerville, 6 William Street, Somerville – just up College Ave. from the Davis Square T stop.
The performance space is not wheelchair-accessible.
Parking on William St is by permit only. General parking is available on College Ave. Please read signs carefully to avoid ticketing.

A Note on Casting: All roles in this ensemble are open to actors of any race, age, ethnicity, gender identity, or body type. We are simply looking for eight actors with a strong sense of comedic timing, who are serious about being silly, and can laugh at themselves. Due to the fact that each character performs a variety of roles, the ability to quickly transition from one to the next is also very important.
