About the Play
Directed by Renée Johnson
In 1948, English playwright Christopher Fry penned The Lady's Not for Burning, a darkly humorous romance between a disillusioned soldier determined to die and an accused witch determined to live. Theatre@First brings the tale to American soil in a West Virginia coal-mining community, highlighting the rich musical and folklore traditions of rural Appalachia.
