Program

Proof

by David Auburn

directed by Santiago Rivas

When does genius blur into insanity? Can genius be inherited? Can insanity? David Auburn's Tony Award-winning play Proof explores these subjects in the portrayal of a brilliant young woman haunted by both the mathematical intellect of her revered father and the mental illness she fears that she may have inherited from him. With a sister and an ex-student, a journey of the mind siphons the equations and numbers to reveal the truth about one last theory.

About The Director: Santiago Rivas is directing his third show with Bare Bones. In the ten years since he acted in The Merry Wives of Windsor, he has tackled jurors, transcendentalists, hippophiles, Greeks, and now a preschooler. He is ready to go behind the scenes as he faces the complexities of mathematics and mental illness. When Santiago is not in the theatre, he is immersed in the logic of SQA Engineering, the warmth of his Fabulous Redhead, and a son who is learning subtraction before going straight to game theory.
