Land Acknowledgement

Theatre@First rehearses and performs on the ancestral land of the Pawtucket and Massachusett tribal nations. We honor these communities and the elders of these nations—past, present, and future—and recognize the enduring relationships between Indigenous and Native communities and their traditional territories. We extend our respect to citizens of these nations who live here now, to their ancestors who have lived here for over five hundred generations, and to all Indigenous people.

We affirm that this acknowledgement is insufficient. It does not undo the harm that has been done through violence and injustice over the past 400 years and that continues today. We recognize that land acknowledgements are only a small yet important step towards ensuring a culture of respect, truth, and accountability in our community.

We commit ourselves to working toward a greater understanding of our relationship with this land and its people, and to sharing this growing understanding with the Theatre@First participants and audience.

About Theatre@First

The mission of Theatre@First is to work together to provide a fun, friendly, and creative theater experience for cast, crew, and audience alike. We welcome volunteers at all levels of experience and offer a supportive environment in which to work, play, grow, and explore new areas of the theater arts. We offer affordable and eclectic entertainment to the community, aiming to surprise, delight, entertain, and educate our audiences.

We fill an important niche in the vibrant Davis Square arts scene, drawing upon the talents and contributions of individuals and organizations throughout the community to provide a venue for thought-provoking and entertaining performing arts for all those who love to be on either side of the curtain.

Each production we undertake is the dream of someone in our community. When you support Theatre@First you make these dreams a reality for our participants and the wider community. Please help us to continue this work through your generous donations.

Cast and Crew

Hann Allen he/they (Eros | Odysseus's Law of Proportional Misery)

Hann Allen is very excited to be appearing in his second T@F show and their second Ten Minute Play Festival, having appeared last year as Mac in No Such Thing. Outside of theatre, Hann can be found working as a historical tour guide and working on about ten different art projects at once.

Raj Mukesh Bhuva he/him (Donovan | Landlord Special)

Raj is thrilled to make his Festival debut and mark his return to T@F after playing Ferdinand (The Tempest) and The Comedian (A Dollar). Other previous roles include Lord Lennox (Macbeth, Dream Role Players) and Owen (Translations, Longwood Players). Outside of theatre, Raj daylights as a data scientist. Much love to his family, friends, Boston area theatre community and the Philadelphia Eagles #GoBirdz

Haley Bierman she/her (Props Designer)

Haley is thrilled to be part of Festival@First 14. This is her first T@F production, her first time as a Props Manager, and her first time doing theatre since her college stage management days 12 years ago, so she'd like to thank the F@F14 team – and Google – for their patience and guidance. By day, she works in fundraising, and outside of work you can find her binging cheesy TV shows, writing, overthinking, and confusing her voice teacher with just how low her range is.

Christina Bontempo she/her (Miranda | Remember Me)

Christina Bontempo is delighted to return to Festival@First for another year. A graduate of Fitchburg State University with a degree in English (Performance), she can usually be found juggling scripts, color-coded calendars, and at least three creative ideas at once. Favorite credits include Clue, The Skin of Our Teeth, Father of the Bride, A Christmas Carol, and Drop Dead!. Somehow, she also finds time to work in healthcare operations and pursue her Masters in Healthcare Administration at Suffolk University.

Juan José Boschetti Muñiz he/they (Sound Designer)

Juan is a Puerto Rican who has been doing theatre in Boston since college! He is very excited to be sound designing again for Festival. Juan has previously done acting and sound design in many shows in the past, such as AAPC Playfest (sound), Romeo and Juliet (Paris), Love is Love Play Festival (sound), and The Impracticality of Modern Day Mastodons (Buster).

Cate Bounds they/she (The Fallen | The Villain Dies at the End)

Cate is thrilled to be making their T@F debut as Fallen in The Villain Dies at the End! They are so grateful for the ways in which T@F and the entire cast and crew of the festival have welcomed them to the Boston/Somerville theatre community. Past credits include Lady Macduff (Macbeth, 2nd Theatre Co), Interlocutor (This is Not a Pipe Dream, Belmont University), Grempkin/Ensemble (Peter and the Starcatcher, Belmont University), and Egeus/Ensemble (A Midsummer Night's Dream, 2nd Theatre Co). Thanks again to T@F and to all their loving and supportive Masshole friends who disprove Boston's bad reputation day after day.

Lisa Calevi she/her (Helen | The Real Housewives of Vermont)

Lisa Calevi returns to the stage for the first time in 40 years, having last appeared in her high school production of West Side Story. In Festival@First 14: Just Deserts, she takes on the role of Helen in The Real Housewives of Vermont—despite being neither a housewife nor a Vermonter. She is delighted (and a bit surprised) to be acting again, and is grateful to the Festival@First community for giving her the opportunity.

Karishma she/her (Stage Manager)

Karishma is excited to be part of Festival 14! She's spent a lot of time in spreadsheets these last few months and hopes everyone enjoys the shows!

Audra Congress she/her (Assistant Technical Director)

Audra Congress is once again delighted to be working with T@F as assistant technical director, one step closer to catching every tech position Pokémon there is. Her collection so far includes props manager for None Escape and The Impracticality of Modern Day Mastodons, assistant stage manager for Festival@First 13, and costume assistant for Festival@First 12. When not being of theater assistance, you'll find her doing some sort of day job involving UX research, probably for a bank. Or running around in the woods LARPing.

Bethany Croteau she/her (Assistant Stage Manager)

Bethany is excited to be joining the crew for this Festival 14. This is her 3rd T@F show and she hopes to keep finding ways to be part of this excellent community! Thank you to Adam for holding down life when the world gets crazy.

Helen Edgar she/her (Director | Remember Me)

Helen is very psyched to be directing again for T@F. She got her start as a rehearsal assistant (and remarkably unqualified photographer) in the fourth Summer Festival. After 19(!) years with the company, she is thrilled to bring another show to life. It has been so gratifying seeing the influx of new talent and knowing that this company will continue on into the future. Thanks to her lovely dedicated cast.

Tom Giordano he/him (Director | Don't Push the Red Button)

Tom Giordano is excited to be working again with T@F after a long hiatus. Tom is an actor and director, and teacher of Voice, Speech, and Shakespeare at Emerson College, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, and Shakespeare & Company. He was recently seen in NETWORK at Umbrella Stage Company. MFA Acting, Columbia University.

Alex Gorowara he/him (Hank Wolfe's Voiceover | The Kentworth Case; Mel | The Ledge)

Alex is happy to be back on stage for Festival 14 after directing The Thirteenth Hour for Festival 13, and amused to be a Voiceover once again after Festival 12.

Theresa Griffin she/her (Wanda | The Real Housewives of Vermont)

Theresa is pleased to be working with T@F again, having most recently appeared as Gossip 5 in The Aria of Julie d’Aubigny. Paula Hawthorne she/her (Director | The Villain Dies at the End; Director | Landlord Special)

This is Paula's stage directorial debut! She's worked with T@F in the past as Marco in Night of One Acts and as an ASM in King and No King. She's beyond excited to be directing Much Ado About Nothing with T@F next year! Paula is also a professional TTRPG Game Master; learn more at paperskinash.com. Thank you to David and Mom for the sanity and encouragement.

Hollis they/them (Este Shmeckbetski | The Kentworth Case; Bystander | Odysseus's Law of Proportional Misery)

Hollis is excited to be part of Festival 14! They would like to thank their cat for his (reluctant) support.

Andrea Humez she/her/hers (Director | Odysseus's Law of Proportional Misery; House Manager)

Andrea Humez has directed a variety of plays for T@F, including Arms & the Man (2007), The Rimers of Eldritch (2008), Bare Bones: Two For the Seesaw (2011), FirstWorks: That Night in the Field (2015), Stop Kiss (2016), Burning (2019), and Water by the Spoonful (2024). Other directing credits include The Importance of Being Earnest (Arlington Friends of the Drama, 2013) and Spike Heels (The Occasional Players, 2009). She has appeared onstage with T@F in roles including Margaret Fuller in the 2006 and 2010 productions of The Margaret Ghost.

Kathryn Irwin (Set Designer)

Kate is thrilled to be jumping into her first show at T@F! Originally from Arizona, she is so excited to plant her roots here in Massachusetts and find her place in the local arts community. She wants to thank everyone involved in this production for being so welcoming and helpful!!

Cari Keebaugh she/they (Intimacy Coach / Choreographer)

Cari Keebaugh (Violence/Intimacy Designer) loves choreographing punches (and kicks and stabs) for theater and film. Most recently, she choreographed the stage combat for Blood & Water (Breaking Light Productions), A King and No King (T@F), Verona Falls (Footlight Club), and Macbeth (Dream Role Players). Follow her adventures at www.VeryCari.com!

Tegan Oak Kehoe shey/shem/sheirs or she/her/hers (Assistant Lighting Designer)

Tegan collects various theater hats to wear. At different times with T@F shey has worn the hats of actor, reading committee member, and stage manager, and shey's a frequent house volunteer. When not doing theater Tegan is a history museum professional and writer.

Andy Lebrun he/they (George Kentworth | The Kentworth Case; Technician | Landlord Special; Albert | Don't Push the Red Button)

Since starting here in 2007 these will be my 36th and 37th T@F plays! It's always a wonderful group of people who are here to have good fun and make good art. Each time one of these short-play festivals comes around, I have one piece of advice for everyone here: ALWAYS push that red button!

Xuan Li Leong she/her (Assistant Stage Manager / Rehearsal Assistant)

Xuan has previously stage managed for The Aria of Julie d’Aubigny (2026), None Escape (2025), Festival@First 12: Love is Love (2024), and The Impracticality of Modern-Day Mastodons (2024). Her current obsession is the Persona video game series.

Patrick McMichen (Lighting Designer)

Patrick is super excited to be back for his second festival. When he's not in a theater he likes to bake, run RPGs, and explore. He is grateful for being selected and cherishes every moment he gets to work with this amazing crew.

Timothy LaCroix Meserve (Officer John Albilai | Orphans, Tommy Dunlop | The Ledge)

Timothy LaCroix Meserve is thrilled to be a part of his first Festival with T@F. Previous roles with T@F include d’Albert (Aria), Sebastian (The Tempest), and Swordsman (A King and No King). He hopes you enjoy the show!

Danny Miller he/him (Nicky | Landlord Special)

Procrastination
I never did write that blurb
Here, have a haiku

Zack Murphy he/him (Manny | Remember Me; Officer Luther McEvoy | Orphans)

Zack is excited to make his return to T@F after previously treading the grass as Prince John in Marian: Or the True Tale of Robin Hood. He has performed in many things you may or may not have seen over the years.

Anh Nguyen she/her (Director | The Ledge)

FAF14 marks Anh's T@F directing debut and her first return to theater in 3 years! Her favorite directing experience was for Red Porcelain, an original full-length musical that she wrote. Beyond directing, Anh has experience in stage management, choreography, and media design, enjoying every opportunity to collaborate across different aspects of theater.

Joanne Nicklas (Alice | The Real Housewives of Vermont)

Joanne Nicklas is excited to be a part of this summer’s play festival. Previous theatrical adventures include understudy as Gonzalo in last summer’s Tempest. Thank you to everyone who helps make this possible.

Emily Osterloh she/her (Producer)

Emily Osterloh has been enjoying wearing a Producer hat again after not doing so for a good five years (aka since college). When it comes to T@F, you may have found her planning an event as Fundraising Coordinator, sitting in the director's chair for previous F@Fs, publicizing productions, or even managing the stage. Outside of T@F, she is a licensed Fire Protection Engineer trying to make the world a safer place, and otherwise, she'll be planning her next Disney trip or curled up with a good book. She thanks the Exec Board and her Co-Producer, Vivian, for being such fellow hard workers who love their craft as much as she does. Her thank yous for support extend further to her dear family, roommate, friends, and especially her boyfriend, Noah.

Ted Overholt he/him (Director | The Kentworth Case)

Ted Overholt has been active around local community theater for about a decade, most recently as the nefarious grand vizier in A King and No King and the Sun King himself in The Aria of Julie D'Aubigny. This is his first foray into directing.

Sophia Palumbo (Costume Designer)

Sophia Palumbo is thrilled to make her T@F debut as Costume Designer for Festival 14. Originally from New Jersey and now based in the Boston area, she is an undergraduate student at the University of Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu. Sophia has been working in costumes since high school with production companies Hawaii Children’s Theatre, Kauai Community Players, and Pixie Dust Players. Her favorite productions thus far have been Beauty and the Beast, Assassins, and Beetlejuice Jr., and she is excited to add Festival 14 to that list! She is grateful to everyone who made this production possible (with a special shoutout to Pamela for all of her costume help) and hopes you enjoy the show!

Maerose Pepe she/they (Director | Orphans)

Maerose is a local multi-hyphenate artist who is thrilled to be making her directorial debut with T@F. As an actor, she has performed with Fork & Shoe Co-Op, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company's apprentice company, and the Northeastern University Theatre Department. Maerose also performs weekly at the Improv Asylum as a house team cast member, and her original semi-improvised play, The Never-Met Game, will be appearing in Fork & Shoe's upcoming season. To see what else this crazy cat is up to, you can check out her website at maerosepepe.com. Lastly, she'd like to thank her muses: David Lynch, Annie Baker, Pierrot, and her boyfriend Bailey.

Pamela Petterchak she/her (Costume Assistant)

Pamela is excited to be involved with this year's Festival@First! This is her second production with T@F; she was the vocal director and composer for The Aria of Julie D'Aubigny earlier this summer. Thanks to Sophia and the production team for making this a fun experience!

Emma Picht (Hank Wolfe | The Kentworth Case; Samuel | Don't Push the Red Button)

Emma is delighted to return to the T@F stage after closing a run as Julie in the Aria of Julie D'Aubigny and performing as Trinculo in T@F's The Tempest last summer. She can also be seen performing and producing with the Post Meridian Radio Players.

Michela Prisco they/them (Assistant Props; Assistant Makeup & Hair)

Michela is assisting with both makeup and properties for Festival@First 14. This is their first time participating in the festival, and they are beyond excited to help bring the shows to life. With a background in musical performance, clowning, and theatre, they are excited to return to crew work.

Jason Rhode he/him (Festival Director)

Jason is a political operative who now works for MIT. Former TAF roles include House Manager (Double Bill, Festival@First 13: Superstitious), Director (Festival@First 12: Love is Love, The Engagement), Hercules (Festival@First 11: Myths and Legends), Rehearsal Assistant (Web of Murder), Stage Manager (Marian, Or The True Tale of Robin Hood), Props (None Escape), Stage Manager (Giving@First), fashion icon (the real world).

Benny Russell he/they (Dylan | Odysseus's Law of Proportional Misery)

Benny is incredibly excited to join Festival 14 in his T@F debut. After a long hiatus from performing, he is eager to step back on stage as Dylan in Odysseus's Law of Proportional Misery. A transplant from Kentucky, this southern boy has acclimated quickly to the New England way of life (All Hail Dunkin') and has no plan to leave. His hobbies include cosplay, collecting taxidermy pieces, and scaring himself with horror games. If he’s not doing any of those things, you can find him hanging out with his wicked cool fiancé and friends. Much love and thanks to them, always.

Carolyn Salvi she/her (Elizabeth Kentworth | The Kentworth Case; Francine Hansen | The Ledge)

Carolyn Salvi stage-managed for this festival 20+ years ago, then didn't come back to T@F until last summer when she performed as Jules in The Department of Occult Difficulties. Most of Carolyn's previous performing experience has been in various ballet roles and when not performing she spends her time gardening and making art. Carolyn received a Ph.D from Tufts University and spent 20 years as an adjunct, teaching First-Year Writing and/or Gender Studies classes. She is now halfway through the MSW program at Boston College and looking forward to a time when she is juggling fewer things. She lives in Arlington with her kiddo, spouse, and two muppet-like standard poodles.

Akshat Sharma (Voice Intro)

After Festival 11, this is Akshat's 2nd time working with T@F, and it remains an honour. An immunologist by training and an actor for the sheer joy of it, Akshat has performed in the cities of Madison, WI; Boston, MA and currently Buffalo, NY. He is thrilled to be lending his voice to Festival 14, and remains in awe of the passionate, conscientious cast and crew of this fantastic show.

Ewa Sitarska she/hers (Nurse | Remember Me; Couple | Odysseus's Law of Proportional Misery)

Ewa is JUST thrilled to be back with T@F for Festival 14 after making her festival debut in Festival 13! Favourite past roles include Catherine in Proof, the entirely silent (but deeply expressive) Mammalia in The Pragmatists, and Coronis in The Thirteenth Hour. She is endlessly grateful to her family and friends for their unwavering support—and especially to her partner, who's always game for JUST one more show. Thank you for being here today, and enjoy the performance!

Amelia Smith she/her (Tracy | The Real Housewives of Vermont)

Amelia Smith (she/her) is so grateful to be performing with T@F for the fifth time, and first Festival! Other recent credits include The Aria of Julie d’Aubigny, A King and No King, and None Escape (T@F), and Macbeth (Dream Role Players). Offstage, Amelia works as an engineer at a nuclear fusion company and will talk endlessly about magnets and plasma. She sends many thanks to the cast and crew, her two perfect cats, and her wonderful partner Robert!

Kai Tawil-Morsink he/him (Director | The Real Housewives of Vermont)

Kai Tawil-Morsink (he/him) knows what a property line is, but not how to locate one. When he is not directing, deconstructing gender, or scrolling through sound effects libraries, Kai is paid to teach people about science. He once got a concussion in Vermont.

Chloe Trepanier (Technical Director)

Chloe is super excited to be Tech Directing another Festival! Chloe has no formal training and it shows, but in a way she's chosen to find charming.

Aiyana Washington she/they (The Judge | The Villain Dies at the End; Margaret | Landlord Special)

This is Aiyana's first production with T@F (and her community theater debut!), and she is thrilled to be a part of this stellar company. By day, she wanders around wildlife sanctuaries, reads fantasy books, and gets lost on Boston transit.

His play, Ava’s Escort, was included in The Best Ten-Minute Plays of 2025. More about him at: richardballon.com/

David Carkeet (The Real Housewives of Vermont)

At an advanced age (please keep reading) I've shifted from writing novels to writing plays, originally adaptations of short stories by Edith Wharton and Mark Twain, and then original shorts (like this submission), with productions in a dozen U.S. states and half a dozen countries overseas. One of them (not submitted here) won best in show at M.T. Pockets Theatre in Morgantown, WV, last year.

Vivian Greenberg they/them/it/its (The Villain Dies at the End; Co-Producer; Sensitivity Reader)

I've acted a bunch, since I was five, but I've never written a full play before (I have several drafts of things that will never be). I love acting and I love playing with tropes, hence the play!

Joel Karlinsky (The Ledge)

I'm a graduate of MIT, Tufts Medical School and the BU School of Management and now a retired Professor of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at BU. I have a Certificate in Screenwriting from UCLA and have been a member of the Harvard Square Scriptwriters for over fifteen years and a member of TC2 Playwrights for three years. Many of my screenplays have done well in competitions. My stage play, Godot Shows, was stage read at the Foundry in 2024 and The Book of Norman is scheduled to be stage read at the Foundry on February 8th.

Lauren Kimball & Jamie Taker-Walsh (The Kentworth Case)

This is Lauren and Jamie's first submission for potential performance, though they have been acting, writing, and working on projects & bits together for 20+ years.

Christian Krenek he/him/his (Odysseus's Law of Proportional Misery; Publicity Manager)

Christian Krenek is so happy to be back for Festival@First! This is his third year as a playwright, second as publicity lead, and first time writing about Greek gods. He'd like to thank Andrea, Benny, Hann, Hollis, and Ewa for bringing Odysseus's Law to life; the entire production team (especially Jason!) for their work creating the Festival; TFC for, as ever, helping to turn his ideas into a script; and everyone involved with F@F for putting up with his constant e-mails. This one's for the people who are still looking for love--remember that it's meant to be discovered, not taken.

Michael Lin (Landlord Special)

I am a local playwright, actor, and Foley artist who has frequently collaborated with the PMRP and Theatre@First in the past, as well as with Flat Earth Theatre and other local theatre groups. As a writer, I have a special fondness for ten-minute comedies for the stage and one-act audio dramas (both original and adaptations). I am a proud member of the Boston-area Asian American Playwright Collective.

Christopher Lockheardt (Remember Me)

Christopher Lockheardt first had a play produced by Theatre@First in 2006. Twenty years later, he's getting paunchy and gray, but T@F doesn't look a day older.

Eric Henry Sanders (Don't Push the Red Button)

Eric Henry Sanders's many full length plays include Play With Time: Maybe, Probably; Moving Water; Reservoir; Where's Annie?; and The Heliopause. His award-winning writing has been produced and developed in theatres across the US and abroad most recently at Tanglewood (Lenox, MA) and The Brooklyn Academy of Music (NY) and the Old Red Lion (London). His recent, co-authored book, SceneWriting: The Missing Manual, is available from Bloomsbury, and he’s a Visiting Assistant Professor.

Theatre@First is part of the Massachusetts Community Theatre Corporation, a non-profit arts organization recognized by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and by the Internal Revenue Service under Section 501(c)3.
